More than 850 e-scooters seized since new approach |

|
Resident,
We’re continuing to stop e-scooter riders and seize their vehicles after they’ve been used illegally, as highlighted in this video featuring two recent stops made by our bikes team.
Both e-scooter riders were using the vehicles illegally and riders attempted to evade police but were eventually stopped with both e-scooters being seized and destroyed.
More than 850 e-scooters have been seized since we began our new approach in November 2024, alongside this we’ve also worked with schools and issued numerous warnings not to buy e-scooters and be left out of pocket.
Legally, e-scooters can only be used on private land. Police teams across the county will continue to be proactive in tackling this as we know it is an issue brought up regularly by local people who have had near misses with e-scooter riders on pavements.
These vehicles can also be linked to other types of crime, and pose a safety risk to both rider and other road or pavement users.
Before buying any vehicle, please do your research to ensure it can be used safely and legally.
